Quick answer: Choose a pendant if you want one important bead worn close to the heart; a bracelet for easy everyday wear; a jaap mala if you chant or meditate; and a keychain if you cannot wear Rudraksha at work or during sport but still want it with you. For a keychain or bracelet, a 5 Mukhi bead is the most common and practical choice. Whatever form you pick, the bead itself should be natural and backed by a lab report.
The four ways to keep Rudraksha with you

Rudraksha pendant
A pendant is the traditional way to wear a single important bead, especially one recommended by an astrologer. Because only one bead is used, this is where larger Nepal beads and rarer mukhis are most often worn. At GemKrishna, any loose bead can be capped in 925 silver or other metals and hung on a chain, and we also make openable silver cap pendants and designs combining Rudraksha with gemstones or deity motifs such as Hanuman Ji and Shivling-Trishul. Capping protects the bead's ends while leaving its natural lines visible.
Rudraksha bracelet
A bracelet is the easiest way to wear Rudraksha every day. Most bracelets use 5 Mukhi beads, often combined with crystals for a specific intention: Karungali for protection, Tiger Eye for confidence, Black Tourmaline for protection from negativity, or Navratan for planetary balance. We make every bracelet to your wrist size, on high-grade elastic or on our Gem Snap magnetic-lock design, which uses a strong stainless steel core looped twice for durability.
Rudraksha jaap mala
A jaap mala of 108 beads plus a guru bead (sumeru) is used for counting mantras during japa and meditation, and many people also wear it. Our jaap malas combine Rudraksha with pearl, lapis lazuli, red coral, garnet, cat's eye or clear quartz, with options for 925 silver capping. You can also build your own with our custom jaap mala builder.
Rudraksha keychain
"Best Rudraksha for a keychain" is one of the most common questions we get. A keychain suits people whose work, uniform, sport or daily routine makes wearing Rudraksha on the body difficult, and those who simply want it with them in the car or on their keys. Our Rudraksha keychain comes in 4, 5 or 6 Mukhi: 5 Mukhi for peace and general wellbeing, 4 Mukhi for learning and communication, and 6 Mukhi for willpower and focus. Traditionally, wearing Rudraksha against the skin is preferred, so think of a keychain as a practical way to keep it close rather than a replacement for wearing it.
Rudraksha for the home
If you want Rudraksha energy in your home or office rather than on your body, our Rudraksha trees and crystal towers with Rudraksha are made for display on a desk, altar or shelf.
How to care for your Rudraksha
- Remove it before bathing with soap or shampoo, swimming, or using perfume and chemicals, which can dry and crack the bead.
- Wipe it clean with a soft dry cloth. Every so often, apply a thin coat of natural oil and let it dry.
- Store it in a clean cloth or box when not in use, not loose with keys and coins (a keychain bead naturally sees more wear, so check it from time to time).
- Cleanse and recharge it on the selenite plate we include with your order.
- Many families also follow traditional rules about when to remove Rudraksha. Follow your own tradition or your pandit's guidance.
How your Rudraksha order is prepared at GemKrishna, step by step
- You tell us what you need. Before buying, you can message us on WhatsApp for free, unlimited guidance. We ask about your purpose, how you want to wear it and your budget, and we recommend by purpose, not by what we want to sell.
- Your order comes in. About 90% of our orders are made specially for each customer after the order is placed, not taken off a ready shelf.
- We hand-pick your beads. For a loose bead you receive the exact bead listed, identified by its report number. For bracelets, malas and keychains, the beads, size, arrangement, cord, metal and fittings are chosen for your order.
- Every loose bead is lab-tested and X-rayed. Our Rudraksha is tested by GJSPC Laboratory, Delhi, a lab that specialises in Rudraksha. According to GJSPC, each bead gets at least two independent expert opinions, and the report records its size, shape, weight, origin, any modification and its X-ray. You receive both a lab report and an X-ray report, and you can ask to see the report before you pay.
- You can verify it yourself. Every report number can be checked online at gjspc.in.
- We photograph the bead and list it with its report number, size and weight, so you know exactly what you are getting.
- Our karigars make it up. Our experienced in-house karigars assemble your pendant, bracelet, keychain or mala by hand, in 925 silver or other metals, on high-grade elastic or our Gem Snap magnetic lock.
- Cleansing and energisation. Every piece is cleansed overnight on a selenite plate and placed before the deities at our mandir for pran pratishtha before dispatch. Basic energisation is free, and for bracelets you can choose from several puja and energisation options when ordering.
- Packed with its paperwork. Your order ships with its lab report and X-ray report, plus a free raw selenite plate for cleansing and recharging at home.
- Shipped across India. We ship from Delhi via Delhivery. Partial cash on delivery is available: 20% online at checkout and 80% on delivery.
- After delivery, we stay with you. Standard products have a 30-day return policy (return shipping is paid by the customer; custom-made pieces are not eligible). If a bracelet doesn't fit, we remake it free and you pay only shipping. Our lifetime repair promise means that if you send back your beads, we restring and return your bracelet, with no time limit.

Frequently asked questions
Which Rudraksha is best for a keychain?
5 Mukhi is the most common choice because it is traditionally suitable for everyone. 4 Mukhi suits students and communication, and 6 Mukhi suits focus and willpower. Our keychain is available in all three.
Is it okay to keep Rudraksha on a keychain?
Many people do, especially when they cannot wear it at work. Traditionally, wearing it on the body is preferred, so a keychain is best seen as a practical way to keep it close. Keep it clean and check the bead for wear.
Is a Rudraksha bracelet as effective as a mala or pendant?
Tradition does not rank the forms strictly; what matters is a genuine bead of the right mukhi, worn with respect. A bracelet is simply the most convenient for daily wear.
Can I wear a Rudraksha bracelet every day?
Yes. Remove it before bathing with soap, swimming or using perfume to protect the beads.
How many beads are in a jaap mala?
108 beads plus one guru bead (sumeru), which marks the start and end of a round of japa.
Can you make a pendant from a Rudraksha I choose?
Yes. Any loose bead can be capped in 925 silver or other metals and set on a chain. Custom-made pieces are made to order and are not eligible for standard returns.
