A ring is the piece people look at most. It sits on your hand through every meeting, every meal, every handshake — which is why it is worth getting right, and why a ring bought badly gets quietly taken off after a month.
This is a guide to buying a 925 sterling silver ring in India: which stones suit which purpose, what a fair price looks like, and how to be certain of what you are actually getting. Everything below links to a real piece with a real price from our 925 silver ring collection, so you can check the claims as you read.
Start here if you are in a hurry
- Wearing a stone your astrologer named? Go to the astrological gemstone rings, and ask for an open-back setting.
- Buying a gift? The amethyst range starts at ₹4,700 and suits almost everyone.
- Buying for yourself, want presence? The wide bands, priced by weight from ₹6,100.
- Nothing here is your size? Every ring we make is made to order in any size, in 6–7 days.
First order with us gets 10% off.
Astrological gemstone rings
These are the rings people come to us for. Emerald is our deepest range — sixteen individual panna rings, each one a different stone, because no two emeralds are alike.
Emerald (Panna)
| Ring | Price |
|---|---|
| Panna Ring with Clear Cubic Zirconia | ₹12,900 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹13,300 |
| Oval Emerald Panna Ring | ₹14,100 |
| Panna Ring with Clear Cubic Zirconia | ₹14,500 |
| Panna Ring with Clear Cubic Zirconia | ₹16,600 |
| Oval Emerald Panna Halo Ring | ₹17,400 |
| Panna Ring with Oval Gemstone | ₹19,400 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹21,800 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹29,100 |
| Panna Statement Ring, filigree band | ₹30,800 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹31,000 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹33,000 |
| Emerald (Panna) Ring | ₹35,100 |
| Panna Ring, designer setting | ₹35,800 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹36,300 |
| Emerald Panna Ring | ₹40,800 |
The price spread is the stone, not the silver. A ₹40,800 panna ring holds a better emerald than a ₹12,900 one — better colour, better clarity, more carats. The silver in both is much the same. Ask us to show you the two side by side before you decide; we would rather you bought the ₹12,900 ring and were happy than stretched for one you did not need.
Other astrological stones
| Ring | Price |

| Firoza Turquoise Ring | ₹7,999 |
| Navratna Ring with nine natural gemstones | ₹9,999 |
| Oval Turquoise Statement Ring, 16.25 g | ₹10,999 |
| Natural Opal & Multi-Gemstone Ring | ₹11,999 |
Stones outside this list — neelam, moonga, moti, manik, lehsunia — are made to order. Our gemstone selector walks you through stone, weight, budget and setting without needing to message anyone.
Which metal for which stone
In traditional Indian practice the metal is chosen alongside the stone. Silver (chandi) is conventionally associated with the Moon and Venus, which is why moti, moonstone and opal are most often set in silver. Gold and panchdhatu are traditionally prescribed for other planets.
We will be straight about this: these are traditional prescriptions, not verified claims. An astrologer who has seen your chart should override any general rule you read online, ours included. Plenty of customers also just prefer silver because it suits their skin or their budget, and that is a perfectly good reason. If you want to read further, we have a page on the astrological use of gemstones, and a ratti to carat calculator for when your astrologer gives you a weight in ratti.
Open-back or closed-back
If you are wearing the stone for astrological reasons, tradition holds the stone should touch the skin — an open-back setting, with the rear of the stone exposed. Closed-back protects softer stones and sits better for rough daily wear, but breaks that contact.
We make both. Tell us which when you order; if you do not say, we will ask.

How every GemKrishna piece is handled
This is the part that takes the time, and it is the same for a ₹1,499 ring and a ₹40,800 one.
- The stone is sourced and sent to the lab. Nothing is listed on trust or on a supplier's word.
- It is tested and measured individually. Identification, dimensions, weight in carats and grams — recorded for that single stone, not for a batch.
- It receives its own report number. Unique to that one piece. No two items share a number, and the number is printed on the listing so you can check it.
- Where it applies, an X-ray is done too. On rudraksha this is how the internal compartments are verified against the mukhi count. You can check a GJSPC report online yourself — we wrote a guide for it.
- Then the piece is made around that specific stone. Individually, by our own karigars, in the size you asked for.
There is no bulk lot anywhere in this. Every item is a single item, measured as a single item, certified as a single item, and made for one person. That is slower and it costs more to run. It is also the only way we know to sell a gemstone honestly.
We work with six independent laboratories — GJSPC, IGI, GRS Swisslab, IIGJ, GSI and GIA — and the report names the lab that issued it. Treatment status is written into the product title, not buried in the description. Our gemstone range includes both treated and untreated stones; heat treatment on a sapphire is normal industry practice, and you deserve to know before you pay rather than after.
The silver itself
925 sterling silver is 92.5% silver. Most Silvy pieces are BIS hallmarked; where one is not, you can add Silver Hallmark (Tonch) for ₹249 before the order is placed, which adds up to two days.
Worth knowing anywhere you buy: silver hallmarking is voluntary in India, so a seller can legally sell unhallmarked silver of any purity, and a “925” stamp applied by the seller proves nothing. Plain silver carries no lab report — hallmarking certifies metal, a lab report certifies a stone. Anyone offering a “certificate” for plain silver is confusing the two.
Any size, and your own stone if you have one
Every ring here can be made in any size, in a heavier or lighter gauge, handmade or cast, with gold plating, rhodium plating or plain silver. Turnaround is 6–7 days, priced as the day's silver rate plus making charges.
If you already own the stone — inherited, or given by your astrologer — we will design and set it. That is covered properly in our custom silver jewellery guide.
To find your size: wrap a strip of paper around the finger, mark where it meets, and measure the length in millimetres. If you get it wrong, we remake the ring and you pay only the shipping.
Silvy is designed by Poonam Gupta, who has 20+ years in jewellery design, and made by GemKrishna's own karigars — a large in-house team with 40+ years of experience.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 925 silver emerald (panna) ring cost in India?
At GemKrishna, between ₹12,900 and ₹40,800 across sixteen individual rings. The spread reflects the emerald — colour, clarity and carat weight — rather than the silver, which is similar across the range.
Can I get a silver ring in my exact finger size?
Yes. Every ring is made to order in any size, with a 6 to 7 day turnaround. If the size comes out wrong, GemKrishna remakes it and the customer pays only shipping.
Should an astrological gemstone ring be open-back?
Traditional practice says yes, so the stone contacts the skin. GemKrishna makes both open-back and closed-back settings and will ask if you do not specify.
Do silver rings come with a certificate?
The gemstone does — a lab report from one of six independent laboratories, with a report number unique to that single stone. The silver does not; hallmarking is what certifies metal purity.
Is every gemstone tested individually?
Yes. Each stone is sent to the lab, identified, measured for dimensions and weight, and given its own unique report number. Nothing is certified as a batch, and where relevant an X-ray is done as well.
What is a Navratna ring?
A ring set with nine gemstones representing the nine planets of Vedic astrology. GemKrishna's Navratna ring in 925 silver with natural gemstones is ₹9,999.
My astrologer gave a weight in ratti. How do I convert it?
One ratti is roughly 0.91 carat. GemKrishna has a ratti to carat calculator that does the conversion.
