Choosing the stone is only half of choosing a bracelet. The other half is how it is strung and how it closes. It decides how easily you put the bracelet on, how it feels through the day, and how it looks. At GemKrishna you can choose between elastic, our GemSnap magnetic lock, thread or knotted stringing, German silver, and 925 silver. Here is how they compare and who each one suits.
Elastic: simple, comfortable, everyday
We string elastic bracelets on high-grade elastic cord. You roll the bracelet over your hand, with no clasp to open.
- Best for: first-time buyers, daily wear, gifts, stacking several bracelets.
- Keep in mind: roll it on and off rather than pulling it wide, and take it off before bathing or exercise to keep the cord fresh for longer.
GemSnap: our magnetic lock
GemSnap is GemKrishna's own magnetic-lock bracelet. The beads sit on high-quality metal wire with a magnetic lock, strung on a strong stainless steel core looped twice for strength. The two ends simply click together.
- Best for: people who take their bracelet off often (for work, prayer or sleep), anyone who finds rolling elastic over the hand difficult, and a neat, finished look.
- Price: the GemSnap lock is free in our Rudraksha bracelet builder.
- Safety note: magnetic clasps should not be worn by people with a pacemaker or other implanted medical device. Choose elastic or thread instead.
Thread and knotted stringing: traditional
Thread and knotted stringing are free and give a traditional look, often preferred for Rudraksha bracelets and jaap use.
- Best for: Rudraksha bracelets, spiritual practice, and anyone who prefers a classic, handmade feel.
German silver: the silver look at a lower price
German silver stringing gives a metal, silver-coloured finish without the price of pure silver. In our Rudraksha builder it costs ₹999. German silver is an alloy; it is not 925 silver, and we always label it clearly.
925 silver: premium and long-lasting
Whenever we say "silver" we mean 925 sterling silver, shown with a "Pure 92.5% Silver" badge. Silver capping on Rudraksha beads gives a rich, traditional finish:
- 925 silver capping with thread (small): ₹2,000 for the whole bracelet
- 925 silver capping with thread (big): ₹300 per bead
- Silver wire and full silver work: priced after the order at the day's silver rate
Silver can be cleaned, polished and re-plated over the years. Most of our silver is hallmarked; where a piece is not, you can add a full BIS hallmark with HUID for ₹249.
